The rich ruby-coloured tones and bold floral detailing give this journal a warm and expressive feel. Designed to bring an artistic touch to everyday writing, it's a beautiful space for thoughts, sketches, or quiet moments of creativity.

Measuring 21x15 cm and including 45 pages of plain paper, it offers plenty of space for journaling, planning, or drawing. The cover is adorned with floral shapes and subtle natural textures, finished with a simple tie closure for a handcrafted look. An included bookmark makes it easy to return to your latest ideas or favourite page. Balanced between practical and decorative, it fits perfectly on a desk, on a trip, or as a thoughtful gift for anyone who loves stationery with character.

What is Lokta Paper?

Lokta is a natural, eco-friendly paper made from the bark of the Daphne plant, which grows in the high-altitude forests of the Himalayan region, particularly in Nepal. The plant is remarkable for its ability to regenerate after harvesting, making it a sustainable resource that doesn't require deforestation.

To make Lokta paper, the bark is stripped from the plant without damaging its roots. It is then soaked, hand-pounded, and spread into sheets using traditional wooden frames. These sheets are sun-dried and sometimes further embellished with petals, leaves, cotton fibres, or natural dyes. The process is labour-intensive but has a low environmental impact, often done in small village workshops as part of community-driven fair trade production.

Lokta paper is prized for its strength, durability, and rich texture. Unlike mass-produced papers, it has a naturally fibrous, slightly irregular surface that gives it a distinct handmade character. It's resistant to tearing and moisture, making it popular for wrapping, bookbinding, and crafts.
