Journals with real personality – crafted in Nepal from traditional Lokta paper and full of charm, texture, and meaning.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rich blue tones and bold botanical forms give this journal a calm yet expressive presence. Designed for everyday writing, or creative bursts, it combines practical use with a handcrafted, personal, and timeless look.

It measures 21x15cm and includes 45 pages of plain paper, providing plenty of room for journaling, jotting, or sketching. The layered floral design creates a rich, textured appearance, finished with a simple tie closure that keeps the pages neatly together. An included bookmark makes it easy to return to your latest thoughts or favorite page. Whether used at home, carried in a bag, or gifted to someone who loves beautiful stationery, this journal brings a touch of color and character to the daily routine while remaining practical for regular use.

What is Lokta Paper?

Lokta is a natural, eco-friendly paper made from the bark of the Daphne plant, which grows in the high-altitude forests of the Himalayan region, particularly in Nepal. The plant is remarkable for its ability to regenerate after harvesting, making it a sustainable resource that doesn't require deforestation.

To make Lokta paper, the bark is stripped from the plant without damaging its roots. It is then soaked, hand-pounded, and spread into sheets using traditional wooden frames. These sheets are sun-dried and sometimes further embellished with petals, leaves, cotton fibers, or natural dyes. The process is labor-intensive but has a low environmental impact, often done in small village workshops as part of community-driven fair trade production.

Lokta paper is prized for its strength, durability, and rich texture. Unlike mass-produced papers, it has a natural, slightly irregular fibrous surface that gives it a distinctive handcrafted character. It is resistant to tearing and moisture, making it popular for wrapping, bookbinding, and crafts.
